On February 21, 2020, Senator Kamala Harris hosted a roundtable at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC) in Watts to discuss the challenges the community is facing in preparing workers with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st-century economy and securing economic justice for every person in Watts.
Senator Harris met with local leaders including Gregg Irish, Executive Directive of the City's Workforce Development Board, to learn more about their efforts to build an economy that works for working people and provides equal opportunity for all.
“I’m here to bring people together to talk about the needs of the community and what we can do in particular, around growing the economy,” Said Senator Harris. “So that’s about building the skills within the community to take on the jobs that need to be filled.”
