On July 23, 2019, the City of Los Angeles Workforce Development Board (WDB) held its annual, summer meeting at Friendship Auditorium in Griffith Park.
During the meeting, the WDB approved a set of online resources which identify the many apprenticeship opportunities in the region. These reports will be posted online and made available to the public. The tools will be useful for jobseekers and youth during job search and career development activities.
The WDB voted in its Officers for 2019-2020:
Additionally, the WDB approved its Executive Committee to be comprised of the three Officers (Woo, Perez and Gin), the chairs of four standing committees, and two At-Large Representatives:
The WDB thanked Bank of America and Garrett Gin, Greater Los Angeles Market, Bank of America, for a $125,000 donation to the Hire LA's Youth Initiative 2019. The funds will be used to pay for youth wages and internships provided through Mayor Garcetti's Hire LA's Youth Initiative.
Since 2012, Bank of America has generously supported Hire LA's Youth, contributing over $1,000,000 to support paid summer internships and paid work experiences for Angeleno youth.
Also, Bambi Salcedo, the President of TransLatin@Coalition, provided a presentation of the WDB commissioned report, "Transforming the Workplace: Los Angeles Trans and Gender Nonconforming Workplace Assessment Report."
