Report by UCLA: LA is in "Throes of a Black Jobs Crisis"

At the April 27, 2017 meeting of the Workforce Development Board's Executive Committee, DeAndrea Lottier and Tamara Haywood, managers of the Los Angeles Black Worker Center, presented the findings of UCLA's report, Ready To Work, Uprooting Inequity: Black Workers in Los Angeles County.

Among the findings, Black workers in Los Angeles are significantly more educated than previous generations, yet experience a lower labor participation rate and a significantly higher unemployment rate than white workers.

The report makes recommendations for addressing the disparities within the findings.
