The City and County of Los Angeles Workforce Development Boards commissioned Dr. Christine Cooper of the LAEDC’s Institute for Applied Economics to create two reports regarding an occupational and industry workforce forecast for the LA region for the period through 2020.
Overall, the Los Angeles region is expected to add 346,000 jobs through 2020, while the City of Los Angeles is expected to capture 122,700 of the new jobs in the region.
The City's Workforce Development Board used the economic data to structure its $68.7 million budget and operational plan for 2016-17 to serve Angeleno job seekers, youth and employers through the WorkSource/America's Job Centers of California and YouthSource Center networks, the online JobsLA.org, and the year round HIRE LA's Youth employment initiative.
