
Steven Simon
Steven Simon is the Policy Deputy for Los Angeles Board of Education President, Jackie Goldberg. Before joining Board President Goldberg's team, he served as Senior Program Manager at the Worker Education and Resource Center (WERC), a partnership between SEIU Local 721 and the County of Los Angeles. There, Mr. Simon helped design and implement programs that connected workers who have barriers to employment with union-represented jobs in the public sector. He also worked for years in organized labor.
At SEIU Local 721, Mr. Simon served as a researcher for campaigns aimed at improving working conditions and services provided in the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Department of Public Social Services (DPSS). At SEIU United Service Workers West, he worked on campaigns to organize cabin cleaners, baggage handlers, and other airport workers. Born and raised in Fresno, California, Steven moved to Los Angeles in 2006 from Chicago.
