Los Angeles based Compass Rose Collaborative hosts a Construction Apprenticeship Program through the Los Angeles EWDD Boyle Heights YouthSource Center

According to the California Department of Apprenticeship Standards, there are 238 registered apprenticeship programs in Los Angeles.

An apprentice gains hands-on work experience in an occupation while also taking classroom instruction. Apprenticeship programs are sponsored by employers, labor unions and associations. Programs can last between one and six years, providing wages along with work experience.

The City of Los Angeles commissioned Apprenticeship Manual identifies information regarding the apprenticeships in operation as well as requirements and labor market projections for each.

To assist jobseekers, the Apprenticeship Manual provides questions and activties for participants to undertake to consider if a particular apprenticeship program is right for them.

The Apprenticeship Manual was sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Workforce Development Board through federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funding.
