Summer Youth Employment “Earn & Learn” Program Press Conference

On Thursday, June 13th, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Chairman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, announced LA County’s $5 million commitment to the Summer Youth Employment Program “Earn and Learn.” The press conference was held at the St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood and the distinguished guests included Michael Dolphin of the City Workforce Investment Board (WIB) and Economic Development Department (EDD), Byron K. Reed, WIB member and Wells Fargo Bank Senior Vice President of Community Development, and Lisa Salazar, Chief of Youth Workforce Development for the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department (CDD).
The Los Angeles Summer Youth Employment Program has become the largest in the nation with over $7 million in funding commitments, thanks to a $2 million contribution from the L.A. City Council and additional support from private companies like Wells Fargo.
