Bank of America and HIRE LA’s Youth: Summer Internship Program
Having a job as a Bank of America Summer Intern requires more than showing up for work. Twelve interns, recruited through a Workforce Investment Board (WIB) partnership, completed a rigorous briefing that began the preparation process for the Bank of America’s Corporate Summer Youth Internship Program. The briefing included a program overview, job skills preparation and most important - customer service.
This is the second year Bank of America has donated $100,000 to support Los Angeles’ Summer Youth Employment Program and it’s the first year the bank has reserved funding within its own summer internship program for HIRE LA’s Youth participants.
“We are extremely pleased with this growing relationship with Bank of America and we are thankful for the new opportunity to be a part of its internship program,” said WIB deputy staff member, David Eder. “We have no doubt these young people will exceed expectations and represent the best of HIRE LA’s Youth. We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Bank of America.”
Thirty students were referred to interview for the positions, but only 12 were chosen. "I really enjoyed working with this group of youth. They seemed to have the right attitude to succeed in the program," said Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce training facilitator, Ronald Kaufman.
The interns began their positions on July 9, 2013.
